Kindergarten has been learning all about line!  I always try to spend the first few weeks with the new little nuggets working with line.  Our first day of art was mostly about exploring the room and asking lots and lots of questions!  “Ms. I, what is that?”, “Ms. I, can we paint today?”, and my favorite “Hey teacher, can I go home now?”.

After many questions and very little talk about line, we sat down to draw as many different lines as we could think of.  There were a lot of scribbles, a few dotted lines, quite a few straight lines, and even a couple bumpy lines thrown in and I think there was even one box line!

Our next art class was spent working in small groups drawing lines.  We also used my SMART board to draw lines together.  The kids really loved that part!  To keep everyone engaged, we used coated wire to manipulate into various lines.  We had a lot of fun!

And finally we looked at Mondrian and his use of primary colors to create various lines and shapes.  We used pieces of red, blue, and yellow paper to create lines and shapes and glued them onto white paper!  They are very fun to look at!

I love the site and idea of capturing the artwork. Kids are so excited when they see they are published. Keep taking pictures and scanning those emergent masterpieces!
